This honestly was a car that I have loved since first sight, and it even has a pretty good looking twin. But why god, why, isn't there an turbocharged version? The STI version is rumored to have around 305hp. But of course these rumors have been around since the beginning. Probably not going to happen though. It would make this a pretty serious contender in the sports car department if it did though. But if it does happen it would of course have only a manual option. Subaru can't ignore the huge demand for a slush box option on their sti versions, I would get it. Honestly though, It might be a bad thing if Subaru did cave into demands. There are times when car makers have started caving into demands of the people, and starts going down hill, and making crappy cars, and not the over the top designed cars they are known for.

And another sight speculating about what the BRZ sti would be like

I think this car need more torque then hp and it must be all over the range. Non-sports cars with similiar or less displacement have more torque then the Toyubaru twins.

A factory turbo will be a good option and the numbers you said are pretty achievable, but for now both companies are unwilling to do it.

But I disagree that it is not a contender in the sports car department, I has one of the best chasis and the aftermarket is pretty strong, so you can easily do whatever you want. Not everything is power.

I updated the article with a link that says they are willing. My bad, probably should've added that in first.

No, its great they do it only on manual. Thats how you separate a car from douchebags, and posers that buy the car for going to Rodeo Drive. We need some balance and shit. Stupid Europeans are deleting the manuals from their models.

Torque is unnecessary in this case. There is hardly any weight to overcome. Once you have enough torque to get it off the line, any additional is just going to make the car hard to launch and ruin its test numbers.

This is a rumor that has persisted from the beginning with no substantiation. I'll believe it when it's in the dealerships.

Turbo isn't necessary. Bore out the stock motor to 2.5L, give it ~230HP and a flat torque curve. Make the STi/Supra with a 3.5-4.0L F6 making ~330-360HP N/A. Easy peasy.

You have a point but here the case is different. The Toyobarus deliver peak torque at over 6k RPM and the window is ridiculously small. I don't say It needs 300+ lb·ft, but it definitely needs more. A car in 2014 can't make a little more then the M50B20 l6 engine put in the E36 320i here in Europe, which was born in 1990.

And this engine can make more easily and I think this is the point of a real STI version, to be the best possible.
